It is an exact reproduction of all or part of a tablespace. DB2 provides utility programs to make full-image copies (to copy the entire tablespace) or incremental image copies to copy only those pages that have been modified since the last image copy.

It is full backup of a DB2 table which can be used in recovery.

Image Copies are done by the COPY utility.

The two types of image copies are:

A full image copy, which is a copy of all pages in a table space, partition, data set, or index space.

An incremental image copy, which is a copy only of those data pages that have been modified since the last use of the COPY utility and system pages.
