Client will talk to HDFS through JobTracker and JT will talk to NameNode. The NN will maintain the entire HDFS cluster metadata and it'll reassign the job to JobTracker then JT will talk to TaskTracker to process the job through mapper in DataNode.

client can directly communicate with the job tracker, and job tracker can interact with name node and as well as task tracker at the time of single point failure.

Since we call Namenode as a single point of failure , may be a developer or admin all the communication should happen through the NameNode services

Client application uses HDFS API to communicate with the HDFS cluster. Client app talks to Name node whenever they wish to locate a file, or when they want to add/copy/move/delete a file on HDFS.

The Name node responds the successful requests by returing a list of relevant data node servers where the data lives.

Client Application can directly talk to Data node, once the Name node has provided data location.
