Hbase is a column oriented database whereas RDBMS is row oriented database, the main difference between these two is Hbase can easily sacled up with respect to storage and processing but whereas RDBMS has scalability but limited in storage capacity. when are working with billions of rows and millions of columns then choose Hbase as your database ...
