  • MapReduce Mode - default
  • Local mode -

hive> SET mapred.job.tracker=local mapred.local.dir must be set to point to a local directory which must exist

  • Automatic Local or MapRed mode
  • hive> SET hive.exec.mode.local.auto=true;

Set the following variables to enable auto switching to local mode hive.exec.mode.local.auto.inputbytes.max (128MB by default) hive.exec.mode.local.auto.tasks.max (4 by default) hive.mapred.local.mem (default 0 to let Hadoop decide the child jvm)
