The RETURN statement ends a DATA Step iteration. Uses: A RETURN statement is implicitly executed at the end of each DATA step. However, if a RETURN statement is encountered before the end of a DATA step, the code after that statement will only be executed if the RETURN statement is executed conditionally, such as after an IF statement or else the subsequent code is labelled so it can be accessed via a GOTO statement or an exception event label, such as end of file, etc.
